Beginners Yoga classes are designed to teach students the fundimentals of yoga at a slower pace, spending time looking at each posture, alignment and pairing both up with breath. Predominantly in the Hatha style of yoga (see below),
We offer a comfortable, welcoming environment. Yoga is all about working to our individual limits, there is no competition and classes set out to make you feel at ease and comfortable.
Hatha Yoga is considered the 'founding sytle' of yoga. Hatha yoga is a series of physical postures and sequences, designed to align, strengthen and tone your muscles and teach us how to breathe in union with the movement. The postures are designed to stretch and open the muscles and also the spine working at a comfortable pace. Hatha offers a nubmer of modifications for beginners, intermediate and advanced students.
Ashtanga Yoga (Primary Series)
Ashtanga Yoga is a slightly more dynamic style of yoga, where we move more actively in line with our breath (inhales and exhales). The style comprises of a set sequence of postures which are repeated each class and incorporate standing postures, balance, twists, inversions and relaxation over 60, 75 or 90 minute sessions. All elvels are welcome to Ashtanga classes, if you are looking for a slightly more challenging class or enjoy practice in the mornings, Ashtanga is a great place to start (and stay!)
Restorative yoga is a perfect way to open up the body in long-lasting, supported postures. Using props and breath, restorative yoga is a low-impact, high-result form of yoga which gently works to open up the back and muscles. Postures are held for several minutes (3-10 minutes or longer), and gentle control of breath is introduced to relax students into this theraputic yoga practice. Perfect for the end of the week or for supporting the rehabilitation of injuries or used as a low-impact yoga practice.
Vinyasa Yoga is a style which can be adapted for a gentle or dynamic class. Combining movement with breath, Vinyasa yoga flows through postures and includes a repeated transition (vinyasa) amongst the series. Classes offer time within postures to check in on alignment and breath and is suitable for beginners and those with experience.
