A Beginners Workshop in Ashtanga Yoga
Learn the fundamentals of Ashtanga yoga with this 3 hour introductory workshop. Open to complete beginners as well as students who wish to consolidate their understanding of the foundations of the practice. No previous yoga experience is required.
The workshop will guide you through key elements of the practice:-
• Physical postures from Ashtanga yoga (asana)
• Breathing to enhance postures (pranayama)
• Gentle muscle engagement to increase energy (bhanda)
• Transitioning between postures (vinyasa)
Ashtanga is one of the more athletic forms of yoga, so having a reasonable level of fitness before you start is desirable, but the practice can be varied to match your level of fitness.
This workshop will prepare you to for joining a lead class in Ashtanga.
